Women finally get the official nod to play five-player, full-court basketball.
In 1971, the full-court 30 second shot clock became official for basketball in general. However, that same year, the AIAW (Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) was formed which gave women the opportunity to compete in an official 5-player, full-court basketball match, and also compete in National Championships.
