The hit TV show "Modern Family", consists of three different families who are all related in one way or another. In this show, they take a more modern twist on gender roles, and they demonstrate some of the most common gender roles in today's world. In one family, there is a working father and a stay-at-home mother who, if she ever was going to work, would work at home, and who takes care of the kids. In another family, there is a very wealthy man who married a divorced columbian woman with a son. This also portrays the typical gender roles of a working father figure and a 'trophy wife', meaning a non-working mother who stays at home and takes care of the kids. The last family is two gay, married men. Since gay marriage recently became legal, this example is becoming more and more popular. Even though they are both men, one of the men is more of the father figure, working as a lawyer and making money for the family, while the other stays home to take care of their adopted child. This show depicts three different, yet very traditional gender roles in today's society.
